Prevention programs, designed to reach members of specific groups are primarily provided by peers to cover the basics of HIV/AIDS transmission and prevention. They may also focus on the many issues around HIV infection such as psychosocial issues and attitudes, multicultural issues, men's and women's issues, age, gender, and others. Programs are tailored to suit the needs of each audience.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
We design programs for staff working in specific organizations and business, such as drug and alcohol rehabilitation counselors, housing assistance workers, health care providers, elder-care staff, teachers, and human resource staff.
INDIVIDUAL & GROUP OUTREACH
Our trained staff and volunteers will discuss personal HIV risks with individuals and small groups at local bars, night clubs, health fairs, and for healthcare providers and community organizations. Through a brief interview, counselors will assess particular risk factors, and strategize with the client to develop a risk reduction plan. If implemented, this plan will effectively and considerably reduce the potential for HIV infection. Counselors will also provide prevention materials and tools.
